The Saturday event at Russell High School, 982 N. Russell Rd., includes a children’s run at 9 a.m., a 10-kilometre road race at 9:30 a.m. and a five-kilometre run/walk at 9:45 a.m.
The club’s Oct. 10 newsletter and its Trackie registration listing give Oct. 22 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern as the regular-rate deadline. Registration information is available at russellrunclub.com/russell-run.
Race-kit pickup and late registration are scheduled for Oct. 23 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Russell Community and Sports Centre, 988 Concession St., and Oct. 24 from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. at the high school.
The club will hold its annual general meeting and potluck Nov. 22 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Russell Legion. Along with club business, the gathering will recognize members and volunteers. Further details, including a call for new board members, will follow.
The newsletter also points readers to the club’s August and September recap, which reports race results, personal bests and community activities.
Highlights include members’ participation in the Up the Glen Kilt Run, Great Raisin River Footrace, Terry Fox Run and Army Run. The club also attended the township’s seniors’ open house, while the New York Central Fitness Trail parkrun marked its fifth anniversary and 200 events.
The recap reports Michelle Leduc completed the Rideau Trail in four days, eight hours and 54 minutes, setting a women’s unsupported fastest known time. It also reviews the Prescott-Russell Trail Challenge.
The club’s website lists programs, events and group-run routes. Updates are available through its newsletter, Facebook, Instagram and Strava, with a community Facebook group for member news.
