OPP officer injured in Clarence-Rockland released from hospital

A Russell County OPP officer injured during an Oct. 15 incident in Clarence-Rockland has been released from hospital, police confirmed Oct. 20.

“The officer was treated and released shortly after,” Sgt. Shaun Cameron said in an email to The Rustler.

According to an Oct. 16 OPP release, officers responded around 11:54 a.m. to a report of an unwanted person on a Clarence-Rockland property.

Police allege a driver reversed into a police cruiser and fled when officers attempted to investigate. An officer was injured during the incident and taken to hospital for assessment and treatment.

Hawkesbury OPP officers later located the vehicle in Alfred-Plantagenet Township and arrested the driver. Police said officers observed signs of alcohol consumption and allege the driver refused a demand for a breath sample.

Police said a 39-year-old Toronto woman was charged with assaulting a peace officer with a weapon, dangerous operation, flight from a peace officer, failure or refusal to comply with a demand, and resisting a peace officer.
