A North Dundas resident is among three people charged after OPP seized suspected drugs, firearms and approximately $100,000 in cash during searches in Edwardsburgh Township and Kemptville.

Police said officers searched a property in Edwardsburgh Township and a storage facility in Kemptville on Oct. 22 as part of a drug trafficking investigation that began this summer. The OPP announced the arrests Oct. 29.

Officers seized more than one kilogram of suspected cocaine, about three kilograms of suspected crystal methamphetamine, approximately 6,000 suspected methamphetamine tablets and opioid pills, a loaded handgun, rifles, brass knuckles and ammunition, police said.

Police also seized approximately $100,000 in Canadian currency and other items they described as typically associated with drug trafficking.

A 23-year-old North Dundas resident and a 41-year-old Kemptville resident face drug trafficking-related and firearms charges. The North Dundas resident also faces a charge of failing to comply with an undertaking.

Both were held in custody for bail hearings at the Ontario Court of Justice in Brockville. The release did not provide the outcomes of those hearings.

A 42-year-old Kemptville resident faces charges of unauthorized possession of a firearm and careless storage of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition. That person was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Brockville on Nov. 27.

The charges have not been proven in court.

The investigation was conducted by the OPP East Region Community Street Crime Unit, with assistance from the Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit and Grenville County OPP.
