Jennie Pilon has been appointed superintendent of education with the French-language Catholic school board serving Prescott and Russell.

The Conseil scolaire de district catholique de l’Est ontarien announced the appointment Oct. 29 following a decision at its Oct. 27 board meeting. The transition will begin Jan. 5, 2027. Pilon will succeed Chantal-Christine Gratton, who is retiring.

Pilon has worked for the CSDCEO for more than 25 years. She has served as a teacher, educational consultant, co-ordinator and school principal, and most recently as director of student services.

She holds a master’s degree in education and two bachelor’s degrees, and has completed the supervisory officer’s qualification program. She also serves on the steering committee of a group representing special education leaders at Ontario’s French-language school boards.

“We are very pleased to welcome Jennie Pilon to our leadership team,” said Lyne Racine, the board’s director of education and secretary, in the announcement.

Racine said Pilon’s experience, strategic vision and knowledge of education would help the board support its schools, students and communities.

The CSDCEO serves more than 11,500 students across Stormont, Dundas, Glengarry, Prescott and Russell. Its network includes 25 elementary schools, seven secondary schools and a continuing education program.
